Cowboys’ Dak Prescott Speaks Out On Team’s New Game Plan

The Dallas Cowboys 2022 season was undone once again by the San Francisco 49ers, this time in the Divisional Round. After running roughshod against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during Super Wild Card Weekend, the warts of the Cowboys’ offense popped up again against the 49ers.

Turnovers were a big issue for Dallas during the regular season. Dak Prescott threw an NFL-high 15 interceptions in the regular season before throwing two more in the playoffs against San Francisco. What makes that number even more shocking for the regular season was that he did it in only 12 games.

The 15 interceptions and 3.9 interception percentage that Prescott recorded were both the worst of his career. Looking to shake things up, the Cowboys made a change to their coaching staff on the offensive side of the ball.

Offensive coordinator Kellen Moore was not brought back, as he joined the Los Angeles Chargers coaching staff. Instead, it will be head coach Mike McCarthy taking over the playcalling offensively.

This is a big change for the Cowboys and could be a last-ditch effort for McCarthy to secure his job standing. He has seemingly been on the hot seat since getting hired despite the Cowboys winning double-digit games in consecutive seasons for the first time since their dynasty in the late-90s.

Prescott recently spoke about the impending changes offensively. He mentioned things will be a little different, but some of the concepts will remain the same as there was some success found in the last few years.

“There are some changes. It’s not like we’re going to throw away our playbook and try to start over, anything like that. Obviously, we’ve had some success. There is good there.”
