Cillian Murphy has addressed the rumours about a big screen version of Peaky Blinders and says he will ‘wait and see’ what happens.

The actor, 47, who cut a dapper display on the cover of Radio Times magazine, revealed all about a possible movie production.

The movie star, who stars in the upcoming World War II movie Oppenheimer, spoke about BBC‘s Peaky Blinders turning into a movie.

Writer and creator of the series Steven Knight had recently spoken out that he had completed a script for a feature film version.

Asked if he had spoke to Steven, Cillian told Radio Times: ‘That’s probably the worst thing about Peaky Blinders – getting asked about the movie all the time!’

‘I would love to do a movie if there’s more story to tell. I’ll wait and see but I have no update for you on that.’

The Irish actor, who plays Tommy Shelby in the six-part drama series, also spoke about how the show rose to fame.

He said: ‘It started off as a tiny show on a Sunday evening and it grew very slowly and without any hype, without any billboards, without any advertising campaign.’

‘It just grew because people told other people to watch it. I’m really proud that it has never plateaued and each series has become richer and stronger than the last.’

He also revealed how he finds it difficult with the other aspects of the industry.

Cillian added: ‘I still struggle with the ancillary aspects of the entertainment business.’

‘There’s an assumption that you have to be a personality. I think that’s not fair, really. If your job is to disappear into character and portray a person, surely the sensible approach is to not to reveal too much of your own self.’

‘I’m really lucky, happy with my life and, you know, that is part of the bargain. You do sell anonymity and you sell some level of privacy.’

Leading man Cillian, Emily Blunt, 40, Florence Pugh, 27, and Matt Damon, 52, hit the black carpet an hour earlier to avoid a clash after the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists announced it had voted in favour of taking action.

The actors walked the black carpet at 5.45pm at Odeon Luxe in Leicester Square, before filmmaker Christopher told the audience once inside the cinema: ‘they’re off to write their picket signs’.
