Christian Pulisic urges Chelsea to ‘show character’ and warns they must ‘turn it around quickly’

Christian Pulisic claims Chelsea ‘need to show character’ and be ‘smarter’ without the ball in order to revive their form.

Chelsea suffered their fourth defeat in their last six games after losing 3-1 to Manchester City – having conceded three times in the opening 34 minutes.

Pulisic recognises Chelsea are’ in a tough period’ but insists the club must ‘turn it around quickly’ and ‘start putting result together’.

‘We’re in a tough period,’ told Pulisic Chelsea TV. ‘It’s going to happen to everyone at times and we’ve been in these situations ourselves before.

‘We have a game next week where we need to start turning it around because we do need to start getting results quickly.

‘We’ll watch this game back, look at it as a team and see what we can improve on. It’s not going to be easy but we need to show character now.

‘We have some games coming up where we need to turn it around quickly and start putting together a run of results.’

Chelsea had already slumped down the table following previous defeats to Everton, Wolves, Arsenal.

However, the west Londoners are now behind Everton and Aston Villa in the table with both sides having games in hand over Frank Lampard’s side.

Chelsea’s fall from grace has come under scrutiny as the Blues were regarded as genuine title contenders following their first 11 league matches.

There is also a growing concern over Lampard’s new signings Timo Werner and Kai Havertz as the two have failed to reach the heights expected of them.

Pulisic is, however, hopeful that Chelsea will be able to change their fortune in their game against Fulham on January 15.
