Graham Potter admitted a weight has been lifted off his shoulders by Chelsea‘s results this week and joked about Elton John‘s I’m Still Standing now being on his current playlist.

Potter insisted during the week that his musical choices on the way into work had not changed to anything more uplifting after Chelsea stopped the rot with last week’s league win over Leeds.

But asked if that was still the case after they followed that up with another morale-boosting victory in the Champions League last-16 against Borussia Dortmund, Potter smiled: ‘I’m still standing, eh?’

Potter’s Chelsea future was in doubt heading into the Leeds game and he has been open about how the growing scrutiny during Chelsea’s slump impacted him personally.

Ahead of his side’s trip to Leicester he said: ‘Yes, in some ways [a weight has been lifted].

‘It’s not something I get too bogged down with. I am the same as every Chelsea fan. It’s better if you win.

‘It’s really difficult to just play a game of football at whatever level and just come home and everything is fine. That’s not to say I am a disaster zone around the family.’

‘Two wins make it easier but we won’t get anything at Leicester for what we did a couple of days ago.’

The trip to Leicester is the first of five league games Chelsea have before the Champions League last eight next month.

With Chelsea 11 points off the top four, winning this season’s competition might represent their best route to get back into next year’s Champions League.

But Potter insisted it is too early to think about prioritising trying to win the club’s third Champions League title.

‘I understand the question, but I think it’s almost second guessing loads of things,’ he said. ‘You can tie yourself in knots and ultimately football is just keep it simple. Next match, try to win.’

Chelsea will be without Reece James through illness at Leicester, Raheem Sterling (hamstring) and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (back) are doubts while N’Golo Kante could make his return against Everton next week after seven months out with a hamstring injury.
