The old adage goes: April showers bring May flowers. Whether or not we’ll see more wildflowers this May remains to be seen here in the San Antonio area during the last weekend of April. For now, there is decent chance of rain over Bexar County on Monday, May 2, according to the National Weather Service.

On Saturday, April 30, Sunday, May 1, and into Monday, temperatures “are gonna be somewhat flat-lining,” says Mote Oaks, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service. Highs will be in the upper 80s with lows dipping into the low 70s. Saturday will begin cloudy before ultimately brightening with a 20% chance of precipitation, with drizzle around 7 a.m., and potential showers after 4 p.m.

Sunday will follow a similar arc, with a 20% chance of showers after 1 p.m. Winds will increase Sunday afternoon, with gusts reaching up to 25 miles per hour Sunday night going into Monday.

A more substantial chance of rain will occur going into Monday. “Our best chance of rain will be probably during the daytime hours Monday we’re looking at  about it just 30 to 50%,” says Oaks. “Based on the pattern it looks like there’s potential for that chance to maybe bring more distinct rainfalls instead of just you know, pockets of isolated storms.”

If you don’t want to wait till the new month to see wildflowers, there are plenty of opportunities to catch them before April is through.
