Celtic want at least £40million for Odsonne Edouard as they owe a 40 per cent sell-on fee to his former club Paris Saint-Germain.

Everton, Leicester City and Aston Villa are among the clubs to have asked about the 22-year-old while Crystal Palace and Newcastle United are likely to be priced out despite their interest.

Edouard’s representatives are due to hold talks over his future with Celtic ready to offer a new contract to convince him to stay for one more season as they bid for a 10th consecutive league title.

Celtic also have interest from English clubs in Kristoffer Ajer and Olivier Ntcham.

The news comes just a couple of days after Sportsmail revealed Edouard is likely to spark a transfer scramble for his signature this summer.

The France Under-21 international missed the 2-1 Champions League qualifying defeat to Ferencvaros on Wednesday that cost Celtic the chance to play in the group stages and that has put his suitors on alert.

Everton, who are looking to bolster their forward line, have long-held an interest in Edouard and regularly scouted him before lockdown, watching him in back-to-back games against FC Copenhagen and Kilmarnock as Sportsmail reported in March.

Though Carlo Ancelotti has options in Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison and Moise Kean – whom the Italian has vowed will be given another chance in the new campaign – Edouard’s progress over two years in Scotland has made him an attractive proposition.

There are, however, a number of rivals in the frame headed by Leicester, whose manager Brendan Rodgers signed the 22-year-old for Celtic from PSG.

Leicester would be in a stronger financial position than Everton, having sold Ben Chilwell to Chelsea for £50m earlier this week.
