CeeDee Lamb joins teammates in recruiting Odell Beckham Jr. to Cowboys

Wide receiver CeeDee Lamb has followed in the footsteps of his teammates in recruiting free-agent Odell Beckham Jr. to sign with the Dallas Cowboys.

“Why wouldn’t you want to add more firepower to the offense?” Lamb said about Beckham while speaking with reporters on Thursday, per Mike Fisher of FanNation’s Cowboys Country. “I feel like we had three No. 1 receivers in my rookie year. Why not get back to that?”

As a first-year pro in 2020, Lamb was part of a Dallas passing attack that featured Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup. According to ESPN stats, the 23-year-old currently leads the Cowboys with 42 receptions, 73 targets, 556 receiving yards and three touchdown grabs this season.

“He’s my boy,” Lamb added about Beckham. “I’m a fan of Odell.”

Cowboys star pass-rusher Micah Parsons told Beckham via public comments this week to “come win games over here” and “help us get to that bowl that you want,” while running back Ezekiel Elliott directly said that “we want OBJ” sooner rather than later. Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott took a slightly different approach when discussing the subject on Thursday.

“Any time you have a chance to add a talent like that and knowing Odell, knowing his resume, it’s exciting,” Prescott said. “But understanding it’s also a business and I’m sure there’s 31 other teams that would like to add him as well.”

Prescott is at least somewhat correct regarding the Beckham sweepstakes. The Los Angeles Rams, New York Giants, Baltimore Ravens,
Buffalo Bills,
San Francisco 49ers,
Kansas City Chiefs and Green Bay Packers have all been linked with the three-time Pro Bowl selection at some point since early October. That reality hasn’t stopped Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones from openly flirting with the 30-year-old on multiple occasions.

It remains unknown when Beckham will deem himself ready to sign with an employer coming off the torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee that he suffered in February. With that said, it seems clear the 6-2 Cowboys would happily put pen to paper on a deal with Beckham today if he’d oblige and if the price is right.
