Carrick’s reaction to win over Gunners

IT IS MY DECISION

“100 per cent my decision. 100 per cent my decision. Just over the last week really. I was conscious that I respected the club and I respected the manager coming in and I wanted to make the decision before I had any contact with them, or spoke to him, there was no crossover whatsoever, and I thought it was the right thing to do for the club as much as for Ralf [Rangnick] and once I made the decision, that was final and I was quite happy with that.”

LOYALTY TO OLE A FACTOR?

“A little bit yeah, of course it was because I owe Ole [Gunnar Solskjaer] an awful lot. There’s a lot of things that have come into my decision it wasn’t an easy one and I just said to the players and the staff the way we’ve worked together – good, good people in there. Sometimes, you get what you deserve, sometimes you don’t. I’ve worked so hard to try and bring some success here in recent years. It’s hard to take, when you don’t quite get to them heights, but great times, great memories. I’m proud of the players over the last three games and, tonight, they gave everything and in some ways, it was the perfect night, but it’s not about me it’s about the players and the club.”
