Carles Gil signs multi-year contract extension with New England

FOXBOROUGH, MA– The New England Revolution have announced that Captain midfielder Carles Gil has officially re-signed a 2-year contract extension.

Captain midfielder Carles Gil signed a multi-year contract extension guaranteed through the 2026 Major League Soccer season with an additional one-year club option for the 2027 season.

He will continue to occupy a Designated Player slot on New England’s roster.

In his six seasons with New England, Carles Gil has won the 2021 Supporter’s Shield, was 2021 Landon Donovan MLS MVP, was 2021 MLS Comeback Player of the Year, is a two-time MLS Best XI member (2019, 2021), three-time MLS All-Star (2021-23) and three-time Revolution Team MVP (2019, 2021, 2023).

Statistically, Gil ranks 4th in club history with 112 goal contributions in all competitions.

In 154 games with New England, Carles Gil has registered 38 goals and 74 assists.

When commenting on his time in New England and reason for the extension, Carles Gil stated, “During my time in New England with the Revolution, I have been able to rediscover my joy on the field and I am at my happiest when I am playing winning football for our supporters. I have cherished my last five years with the club and enjoy the competitive league, playing with my teammates, and our great fans…. I have so much more to give to this club and the supporters, who give me all their backing and confidence as their captain. For Maria, Marco, and I, Boston has become our home. I am excited to continue my career in New England and will give everything on the pitch to win trophies for this club.”

The New England Revolution (0-0-2, 0pts.) head out to Atlanta, GA as they are set to face MLS Eastern Conference side Atlanta United (0-0-1, 0 pts.) on Saturday, March 9th. The match kicks off in Mercedes-Benz Stadium at 7:30 p.m. ET on MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app.
