Cardinals acquire CB Trayvon Mullen from Raiders for conditional seventh-round pick

The Arizona Cardinals bolster their thin cornerback corps by acquiring Las Vegas Raiders cornerback Trayvon Mullen. According to the Cardinals’ official website, Arizona will send a conditional seventh-round pick in the deal, becoming a sixth-round pick if Mullen plays more than 10 games.

The trade is contingent on Mullen passing a physical.

The Raiders drafted Mullen in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Mullen quickly saw the field, starting 10 of his 16 appearances in 2019 and starting all 16 games in 2020.

However, in Week 4 of the 2021 season, Mullen suffered a pedal toe fracture, placing him on injured reserve. He finished the season with five starts.

Mullen is a major add for a thinning Cardinals cornerback room, getting a chance to paly immediately if he passes his physical. In 2021, the Cardinals starting cornerbacks Byron Murphy and Marco Wilson ranked 57th and 79th respectively in success rate allowed.
