Brendan Rodgers will return to Anfield after his Leicester side were drawn against his former club Liverpool in the Carabao Cup quarter-final draw.

The Reds overcame Preston in midweek to book their spot in the last eight while the Foxes were pegged back by Brighton twice in normal time before beating them on penalties.

Meanwhile, there’s a tasty offering of two London derbies in the quarter-finals, with Tottenham hosting West Ham in what will most certaintly be a fiesty affair.

The Hammers got the better of Spurs earlier this month at the London Stadium so Nuno Espirito Santo and his side will be out for revenge in the last eight.

On the other side of the capital, Brentford will host Chelsea again after the two west London clubs faced off earlier in the month.

Thomas Tuchel’s side managed to clinch a narrow 1-0 win after a hard-fought contest which saw Thomas Frank’s men come close to getting a point off the European champions at the Brentford Community Stadium.

Sunderland – the only EFL club left in the competition – have been rewarded with a trip to face Arsenal, which will more than please manager Lee Johnson who quipped that he wanted the Gunners or Spurs in the last eight and then one of the ‘really big guns’ over two legs.

The quarter-finals will take place on the week commencing December 20, before the semi-finals are staged in the new year.

Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham are among the eight clubs that will discover who they will face in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup.

The draw for the last eight will take place on Saturday morning after each side booked their spot in the next round with victories earlier in the week.

There will be new names etched on the League Cup later on in the season after holders Manchester City were dumped out of the competition on penalties by West Ham, while Arsenal, Brentford and Leicester join the Hammers in today’s draw.

Sunderland are the only side outside of the top flight left in the competition.
