Buccaneers training camp updates, besides Ryan Jensen’s injury, have all been upbeat. Of course Jensen’s injury is a massive blow to an offensive line that is replacing both guard positions already. We also have updates on some rookies working with first team and Julio Jones joining in rotation.

Ryan Jensen’s Injury Update

Ryan Jensen’s went down in practice a few days back grabbing his leg and screaming in aggravation and pain. We all feared it was significant and would leave him on the sidelines for a while. So far, Buccaneers haven’t disclosed the results of an MRI. However they have said that it is a significant knee injury and they expect Jensen to miss at least a couple months to maybe most of this season. This is terrible news for Brady and the offensive line the Bucs are already trying to rebuild.

Brandon Walton First Team Reps

The offensive line was already an unknown this off-season. With Alex Cappa goin to the Bengals and Ali Marpets retiring holes had to be filled. Now with Jensen’s injury the whole inside of the o-line will be new. Brandon Walton, a rookie from Florida Atlantic, has been taking reps at guard. Walton is listed as a tackle at 6’5 and 300 pounds. Stinnie and Goedeke have been favored to start at guard. Now the coach’s said they have to cast a wide net to see who can fill the multiple positions. Coach’s praised Walton saying he’s tough, strong, with good technique. I’m sure we will here more updates at who will be protecting the 45 year old Tom Brady this season.

Julio Jones catching passes

Julio Jones started practice Friday and was getting cheers from onlookers as he caught passes from Brady. Jones will be the third receiver if Godwin is healthy for the start of the season and second receiver if not. Brady has plenty of target to throw to this season with maybe one of the most stacked and talented receiving groups in the history of the NFL.

Back Practicing Off Injuries

Sadarius Hutcherson has come off the pup list. On August 14 in a preseason game against the Bengals Hutcherson suffered a season ending knee injury, but was able to come off the pup list after Jensen went down with his injury. The guard will join the competition on the offensive line.

Lavonte David

After finishing last season at what he admitted was 60% health, Lavonte David said he is 100% healthy and feels great. This is terrific news for the defensive side of the team whom is hoping to be one of the best in the league this year.

Leonard Fournette

Everyone was talking about Leonard Fournette coming into camp out of shape. He has looked great the first week of practice. He doesn’t seem to be any kind of out of shape by his performance has been the narrative we’ve heard. It sounds to me like he is going to be just fine which is great news for Brady as Fournette is a much needed asset running and catching passes out the backfield.

We hope Jensen has a speedy recovery. We will keep you up to date on who will have the daunting task of filling his position. His shoes are gonna be hard to fill, and Brady has to be a little concerned about what the state of his protection will be to start the season. On the other hand he has to be more than pleases with the receivers he has at his disposal and the way Leonard Fournette has been in practice. We will keep you up on all the news from Bucs practices and you can also check out news from these articles.
