Buccaneers’ Tom Brady responds to Ben Roethlisberger: Losing is ‘not very fun’

Understandably, quarterback Tom Brady was asked Thursday about future Hall-of-Famer Ben Roethlisberger recently saying that “it didn’t look like (Brady) wanted to be out there” during the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ 20-18 loss at the Pittsburgh Steelers this past Sunday.

“You know, I think anytime you lose, it’s not very fun for any of us,” Brady responded, per Sean T. McGuire of NESN. “I think we’ve just got to play better. I think that’s the reality to solving a lot of issues is to play better and to win. And yeah, I’ve definitely been a part of seasons where we have not played as well as we’re capable, and I don’t think it’s as enjoyable for anyone.

“I think everyone is working hard to get it right. I’m sure you guys in your job like to get it right. We like to get it right in our job. And when it doesn’t go right, I don’t think anyone is happy in their job when it’s not right. And we’re certainly not happy when it’s not right. So we’re working hard to get it right.”

Roethlisberger made his original comments on his “Footbahlin with Ben Roethlisberger” podcast and after Brady was spotted screaming at his offensive linemen during Sunday’s defeat at Acrisure Stadium that dropped the Buccaneers to 3-3 on the season.

“It just didn’t look fun for him,” Roethlisberger added about Brady at the time.

Tampa Bay center Robert Hainsey has since insisted Brady’s teammates “love” such vocal leadership from the seven-time Super Bowl champion, and former wide receiver and current NFL Network personality James Jones later bashed Roethlisberger for his take.

Also on Thursday, Brady attempted to silence talk suggesting he could resume his short-lived winter retirement before the 2022 season ends. Such chatter may only get louder, though, if the 45-year-old doesn’t appear to have much “fun” when he and the Buccaneers play at the 1-5 Carolina Panthers this Sunday.
