Bruce Arians: Tom Brady ‘may be doing a lot of coaching’ during Buccaneers’ minicamp

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady confirmed in March he had offseason knee surgery following the Super Bowl LV victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, and general manager Jason Licht told reporters in early April the seven-time champion signal-caller was recovering “very well” from the procedure.

Brady has shared pictures on social media of him throwing passes to teammates in private workouts, but coach Bruce Arians said Tuesday he wasn’t sure how active the 43-year-old will be during next week’s mandatory minicamp.

“I don’t know how much I’ll let him do … with guys chasing him around,” Arians explained, according to Jenna Laine of ESPN. “We’ll see. We’ll see what the doctors say. He may be doing a lot of coaching.”

Arians previously said he believed Brady wouldn’t be available for official Buccaneers workouts until “somewhere around June,” but the veteran seen by many as the G.O.A.T. requires little work at this stage of his recovery ahead of training camp sessions and preseason action. Having Brady healthy and at his physical best for Sept. 9 and the start of meaningful games is more important than anything he could accomplish on a football field during the first half of summer.
