Brady Sets Date To Start Broadcasting Career

Tom Brady may no longer be a Buc, but you can still see him on television at a football game soon enough. Before the start of what would turn to out to be his final NFL season, Brady agreed to a 10-year, $375 million deal with FOX in May to be their top color commentator whenever he decided to retire.

However, given Brady’s stature and other ventures, would he jump into the booth right away or would he give it some time before we heard his voice on the broadcast?

Brady went the “The Herd” with Colin Cowherd on Monday to address this. As it turns out, it’s going to be a year until we hear and see the GOAT in the booth. He’ll make his debut on the airways at the start of the 2024 season.

“Decompression’s important,” Brady said. “You’re on this kind of really crazy treadmill/hamster wheel for a really long time loving the moment, loving the journey but at the same time it’s a daily fight. I have an appreciation for so many people that are so committed every day to showing up to put their max effort into their life and their career.

“I think for me, I want to be great at what I do. Even talking with the people last week at FOX Sports and the leadership there, allowing me to start my FOX opportunity in the fall of 2024 is something that’s great for me. [I’ll] take some time to really learn, become great at what I want to do, become great at thinking about the opportunity and making sure I don’t rush into anything.

He then discussed his biggest motivator to be great at broadcasting.

“I think when people really bet on me, one thing about my career is – whether I was drafted by the Patriots or signing in free agency with the Bucs – I wanted to be fully committed,” Brady said. “I never wanted to let people down, I think my biggest motivator was that. Even in the future I want to be great at what I do and that always takes some time and strategizing and learning and growing and evolving and I have so many people to rely on that and can support me in that world too.

“It’s going to be a great opportunity for me to take some time to really become [great] at my FOX broadcasting job, which I’m really looking forward to, but also catching up on other parts of my life that need some time and energy. ”

Brady Has Plenty Of Ventures To Get Into

With the number of responsibilities and ventures that Brady has going on in his life, he’ll be pretty occupied in the meantime before FOX comes calling in two seasons. A huge reason why he retired was to spend more time with his three kids – Jack, Ben and Vivian. After that, he also has businesses that include his TB12 method and his clothing line – Brady Brand.

Brady just recently had a movie come out called “80 For Brady,” which was produced by his production company called 199 Productions. He’s been in several movies and tv shows before along with going through countless press conferences, so going on camera for FOX won’t be much of an adjustment.

One month after he signed a the deal, Brady went on The Dan Patrick Show and answered why he wanted to make this move. He explained it was all about giving back to the game.

“I’ve been around great mentors in my football career,” Brady said in June of 2022. “I mean, the list goes on with the coaches that I’ve been around. General managers, Jason Licht [and] Scott Pioli. I get to be around players – I had the best players. I was around the best defensive players [and] offensive players. I’ve been covered by John Madden.

“I’ve been at Super Bowl media days, I’ve had so much experience. And if I can help people along the way by my travels and by talking to coaches and talking to players… I love the sport of football. And I get to be in it, so I think that’s what mostly I got excited about.”
