A $36 million quality of life bond election will be on the ballot for Boerne residents in the November 8 election. At the Boerne City Council meeting on Tuesday, August 16, members called for two propositions to be on the November ballot that total $36 million for road improvements and park developments, according to a news release.

“This bond program addresses important community needs consistently identified by our residents in surveys and master plans,” said Boerne Mayor Tim Handren in a statement. “City Council and staff have worked hard to identify these projects and create a bond program that addresses citizens’ priorities and is fiscally responsible and feasible.”

Proposition A will cover “streets and mobility” for $23 million. The proposition will fund Boerne’s current roads, turn lanes, intersections, and traffic signals. Proposition B will cover “parks and open space” for $13 million. The proposition will fund development and improvements of Boerne’s parks, trails, and open spaces, according to the release.

The bond was created after the city received input from the 2021 citizen survey and the 2018 Master Plan, the Mobility Master Plan, and the Parks Master Plan, according to the release. In the upcoming months, the city will hold online and in-person chances for the public to learn more about the potential projects that the bond would cover.

Early voting will be from October 24 to November 4 in Boerne.
