Body of woman shot found in Southeast Side field

The body of a woman was found Sunday morning after a man called 911 and told police to search a Southeast Side field.

The man called police at about 8:30 a.m. and directed them to the 8900 block of East Loop 410 where police found the body, San Antonio police said.

SAPD Chief William McManus said the woman, who has not yet been publicly identified, was between 30 and 35 years old. She had been shot sometime overnight, investigators said.

The man who called police was the woman’s friend, McManus said.

The chief said there was more to the case than he was able to talk about, and that detectives may ask the public’s assistance as the investigation continues.

“As investigators get through the case, they’ll have a better idea of what exactly happened here,” he said.
