Bleary-eyed Trent Alexander-Arnold posts photo with Premier League medal after Liverpool trophy lift

Trent Alexander-Arnold seemed in a state of shock the morning after his beloved Liverpool lifted the Premier League trophy, posting a photo on social media captioned: ‘I’m just a normal lad from Liverpool’.

The 21-year-old right back, a product of the club’s youth academy, has been one of the team’s standout players this season and scored a trademark free-kick in the 5-3 victory over Chelsea on Wednesday.

Jurgen Klopp‘s dominant side lifted the Premier League trophy in a spectacular ceremony on the Kop post-match and after a night of celebrations, Alexander-Arnold posted on his Instagram this morning a bleary-eyed selfie with his winners medal.

Alexander-Arnold was wearing a white t-shirt and a white RedBull cap as he took the picture, with the simple caption: ‘I’m just a normal lad from Liverpool’.

In the immediate aftermath of getting his hands on the coveted trophy, the young star spoke to Sky Sports about the significance of Liverpool’s first top-flight trophy in 30 years.

‘This is the one we all wanted as fans, as players, as a club,’ an emotional Alexander-Arnold said.

‘I’d swap every medal I’ve got just to have this one round my neck. But I think that the way we played this season and the feeling we felt being up there on the podium is unbelievable. For the club it’s massive.

‘I feel so lucky, I feel so blessed to be part of such a special club, be a part of such a special team. Everyone has played a massive part, the young lads, the senior lads, all the staff, everyone.

‘It’s been a collective effort and it’s a club effort and it’s going to be a good night to celebrate it.’

After winning his fourth trophy in 14 months, following last year’s Champions League, Super Cup and Club World Cup successes, Alexander-Arnold insisted the squad would not rest on their laurels next season.

‘I think getting the first trophy in and winning the Champions League last year helped our appetite to win more, more and more, and I think nights like this and the feeling that you get now is just the feeling that you want so much,’ the right back added.

‘It’s something that will drive us and I think next season this is what we want to be like in 12 months’ time, to be in a position to celebrate and hopefully in 12 months we’ll be able to celebrate with the fans here.’

His goal on Wednesday takes his league tally to four for the season, in addition to an astonishing 13 Premier League assists, with one match away to Newcastle on Sunday remaining.
