Blackburn set asking price for West Ham-linked Adam Armstrong

An insight into the money West Ham may need to fork over if they hope to sign Adam Armstrong has been provided this weekend.

West Ham eyeing a striker

West Ham sold Sebastien Haller to Ajax during the winter window.

This has, of course, reduced the Hammers’ options at centre-forward.

In turn, David Moyes and co. appeared to be in the market for some fresh legs up top throughout the January window.

The Londoners were linked with Arkadiusz Milik (who has since joined Marseille), Sevilla hitman Youssef En-Nesyri and Celtic’s Odsonne Edouard.

In the end, though, West Ham didn’t bring in a new striker, leaving them rather short up top until at least the summer.

Following transfer deadline day, Moyes confirmed that his side had indeed been on the lookout for a new centre-forward, but explained:

“We were looking and we had money to spend. But we are trying not to go down the same path as before. I am not going to sign players who have come in to appease people.”

Blackburn want £25m for Armstrong

Despite the window now being closed, though, West Ham continued to be linked with strikers.

One of these, of late, has been Blackburn hitman, Adam Armstrong.

Armstrong has scored 19 and assisted three in just 31 Championship outings for the Rovers this term.

And now, Tony Mowbray’s side appear to have set their asking price for their star man.

According to a report from the Sun, Blackburn want £25m for the forward, a fee which is said to have shocked West Ham, as well as other admirers.

The hefty nature of the price-tag may have something to do with the fact that Newcastle are due 40 per cent of any fee which Blackburn secure for Armstrong:
