According to police, Nickel’s children — ages 5 and 8 — were inside the home located in the 8900 block of Maverick Draw, near Old Tezel Road.

One of the children texted their grandmother concerned about their mother Thursday morning. When the grandmother arrived, she found her daughter dead on the floor near the door at the residence around 10 a.m., police said.

Police did not provide many details but suspect foul play.

“We are looking into some leads that we believe will lead us to an arrest,” San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said Thursday.

The chief said only the woman and children were living in the residence.
