Two men are in custody in the case of a San Antonio man found shot and hogtied on the side of the road on the Far Eastside. Bexar County Sheriff’s Office arrested Darryl King, 36, and Uriah Huffman, 24, in connection with the aggravated assault of 24-year-old Joshua Sandoval who was found on April 23 at the 11000 block of La Vernia Road, said Sheriff Javier Salazar at a press conference Wednesday.

Sandoval was hogtied “mostly nude” with several stabbing and gunshot wounds to his head. Sandoval survived his critical injuries but lost an eye. Salazar had previously called the case a “heinous murder attempt.”

Salazar said the assault originally started at a trailer park on Shady Meadows in Guadalupe County, where Huffman told deputies that Sandoval allegedly struck him in the head with a guitar because of a disagreement. Huffman then left and returned with King, allegedly overpowering Sandoval an then hogtied him with rope and zip ties, according to Salazar.

Both suspects were charged and arrested.

Both suspects allegedly cut off most of Sandoval’s clothes with a knife and then drove him to La Vernia Road where Salazar said “one of the suspects” shot Sandoval several times in the head.

“I can’t even imagine what this young man went through,” Salazar says. “From the best we can figure he was laying out there for about five or six hours tied up, shot, bleeding profusely and just basically waiting to die where they left him.”

Huffman and King were charged with aggravated kidnapping and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Both are still in the Bexar County Jail.
