Best, worst offseason moves for the San Francisco 49ers

The 2023 NFL Draft will be held in Kansas City from April 27-29, and the San Francisco 49ers have done everything possible leading up to the draft to get to Super Bowl LVIII.

Here are the best and worst moves they’ve made so far.

BEST | Signing Javon Hargrave

Signing the league’s best free agent doesn’t take much thought, but it sure takes a lot of money. After three years in Philadelphia, Hargrave signed a four-year, $84 million contract with San Francisco. Even with a $23 million signing bonus, his 2023 number is very team friendly. With $1 million in base salary, Hargrave’s cap number will be under $7 million next season.

Hargrave had a great 2022 season. His 37 solo tackles were the most of his career, as were his 11 sacks, fourth-most among defensive tackles.

Hargrave’s Eagles led the NFL in sacks last year, but the Niners defense gave up the fewest points, and the DT should thrive in a defense that’s already loaded.
