‘Below Deck Down Under’s Captain Jason Chambers & Aesha Scott Were “Annoyed” By The Guests’ “Dangerous” Unauthorized Night Swim: “You Don’t Jump In The Water At Midnight”

Below Deck Down Under Season 2 premiered last night on Bravo, and already there is drama on the high seas. Even with starting the charter two crew members down, Captain Jason Chambers and Chief Stew Aesha Scott were unflappable as Captain Jason steered the Northern Star away from the dock and Aesha catered to the needs and desires of the guests. As is tradition, the first charter group was ready for a little adventure and a whole lot of partying. However, two guests got a head start on the rest in terms of alcohol consumption: the obnoxious Brandon and the entitled Kristyl, who couldn’t even make it to the first dinner of the charter because she had passed out.

Fans knew it was going to be a rough night when Bosun Luke Jones disobeyed a direct order from Captain Jason. He was told to have one of his deckhands work the night shift with the stew to help clean up and deal with partying guests. When only Brandon emerges from his cabin after dinner for a late-night drink, stew Laura Bileskalne is fine with working alone to finish up her shift. However, Kristyl unexpectedly stumbles out of bed to join Brandon, and that’s when shit starts to hit the fan. Brandon gets the idea to go night-swimming, but Laura is able to shut him down. She explains how dangerous night swimming can be: “You’re under the influence and there’s no one with you.” Both Captain Jason and Aesha agree with Laura’s call, noting even more reasons that it is unsafe to swim in Australia at night. “We’ve got sharks and jellyfish and all these dangerous things in the water that can actually kill you,” explains Aesha. “Tide, current, creatures under the water, Australia, come on. You don’t jump in the water at midnight there,” Captain Jason affirms.

Bravo

Though Brandon appears to be listening, he quickly ignores Laura’s admonitions and jumps into the water with Kristyl. When Laura hears their splashing, she comes to the aft deck and tells them: “I was very clear with you that if you jumped into the water, the party’s over. I will need to talk with captain.” Laura sounded the alarm, waking up Captain Jason. Aesha agrees that her actions are “absolutely right” and explains: “It’s this yachting culture where guests are always right, every now and then, when it’s a safety thing, it actually does have to be a no, and it can be really hard for guests to hear.”

Bravo

As he heads up on deck to deal with the situation, Captain Jason is alarmed that that no one from the deck crew was there to help Laura (this lapse will “come up” in the next episode, promises Captain Jason). Captain Jason reveals his state of mind in his confessional: “The [guests lives] are my lives. They are my responsibility. And I’ve got to keep them out of harm’s way.” As the pair emerge from the water, Captain Jason scolds them for not listening to Laura. “On my vacation, I’m the captain of the ship,” says Kristyl. When asked how he felt about her response, Captain Jason told us: “I was pretty annoyed.” Not one to mince words, Captain tells her: “So you went that next step, and I’m going to go to the next one. We’ll head back to the Marina tomorrow.” A shocked Brandon and Kristyl just stare back and him. We’ll have to wait until next week to see if Captain Jason makes good on his promise.
