Bayern Munich ‘concentrating their efforts’ on signing Leroy Sane and a right-back this summer’

Bayern Munich are reportedly concentrating their efforts on pursuing Manchester City winger Leroy Sane and a right-back this summer.

By prioritising the City attacker and a new defender, they are likely to take themselves out of the running for Bayer Leverkusen wonderkid Kai Havertz.

Havertz is attracting plenty of attention from Europe’s elite, with Chelsea in pole position to sign the German international, according to The Athletic.

Bayern have been linked with Sane for over 12 months, who is still yet to sign a new contract with Pep Guardiola’s side.

The 24-year-old has one more year left on his deal, but City have been trying to get him to sign an extension for several months. It appears Sane has been stalling contract talks in order to force a move in the next transfer window.

Bayern have been long-time admirers of the German winger, however struggled to close a deal for him last summer when City valued Sane at around £130million.

Now, they could be looking at a deal below £50million after he spent the majority of this season on the sidelines with injury.

Bayern are also in the market for a right-back to take the load off centre-back Benjamin Pavard

Bayern’s current wide options of Serge Gnabry, Kingsley Coman and Ivan Perisic have all impressed – but with loanee Philippe Coutinho set to return to Barcelona at the end of the season, Bayern are prioritising a new winger.

The Bundesliga champions are also in the market for a right-back, after natural central defender Benjamin Pavard has filled in on the right side of defence for much of this season.

The Germans did loan Alvaro Odriozola from Real Madrid for the 2019/20 season, but he has only played two matches all year.
