‘Barbie’ fan films unruly viewer who blasted fart noises in theater
Come on Barbie, let’s get fart-y.
One “Barbie” moviegoer is feeling ripped off after another audience member kept playing fart-like sound effects during the highly-anticipated film.
In a series of posts on X, the app formerly known as Twitter, Blaire Erskine, a staff writer for “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” recalled how, at first, some guests initially found he sounds funny — but soon let their annoyance be known.
“Finally went to see ‘Barbie’ last night and the girls in front of me did this the whole movie lmao,” wrote the comedian alongside a video. In it, the jester-in-questions phone screen shone an apparent library of “fart sounds” with “over 1,000 farts.”
“Sorry I should have clarified that the girls were in fact grown women,” said Erskine in a follow-up post. “Also I did laugh the first couple of times!”
“I’m not a monster! But I couldn’t CRY during the big MONOLOGUE because all I heard! was! 1000! farts,” she continued.”I just wanted to cry in the dark at the movies is that too much to ask”
Erskine then revealed that she asked the prankster to stop, doubtful that she’d be able to “talk sense into [a] grown-ass women playing fart sounds.”
The writer also responded to commenters who said that she should have gotten someone in charge to deal with the unruly watchers.
“Getting a ‘manager’ (a nineteen-year-old guy named Logan) would mean missing even more of the movie,” Erksine retorted.
The Post reached out to Erskine for comment.
Her video now boasts nearly 9.4 million views and sparked a massive debate about how to deal with such childish behavior.
“People who do this do actually end up burning in h- -l for eternity it’s proven,” slammed one steaming mad fan.
“Why didn’t u kick their seat every time they did that,” said a second person.
“There’s no reason why you people can’t grow a spine and get people kicked out of the theater, ruining other people’s movie theater experience purposefully is not cute or quirky,” raged another.
Other X users found the circumstances hilarious.
“I’m sorry but that’s awesome and I am really hoping these girls were like 15 because that’s the coolest thing a 15-year-old could do tbh,” one giggled.
“This Barbie likes fart jokes,” joked another.
“Very fitting for a sh- -ty movie,” mocked one unconvinced viewer.
This is not the first time audience members have been rude during Greta Gerwig’s film.
One TikTok user managed to capture the moment two moms came to blows inside a screening of the film, after one of the moms allegedly let her child watch YouTube videos throughout the film.
The film, directed by Greta Gerwig, was released last weekend and immediately soared to the top slot of the US box office, raking in $22.2 million in preview ticket sales on Thursday, followed by another $48.2 million from the movie’s debut Friday, with a weekend total of a record-smashing $162 million.
Meanwhile, The Post’s Johnny Oleksinski called the flick “a smug tale that doesn’t boast a single sympathetic character.”
Aussie actor Margot Robbie plays the titular character in the movie, which also features Ryan Gosling as one of many Kens, Will Ferrell, Kate McKinnon and America Ferrera.
