Aston Villa’s Winger Search

Aston Villa’s quest for quality wingers has been a persistent theme in their transfer endeavors. Several high-profile names were linked to Villa, including Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams and Barcelona duo Ferran Torres and Ansu Fati.

However, these pursuits failed to materialize, leaving Villa determined to explore other avenues. The club also came tantalizingly close to securing Marcos Asensio, only to be disappointed as the Spanish winger opted to join Paris Saint Germain.

Undeterred, Villa’s attention has now shifted firmly towards Moussa Diaby, a player who has long attracted interest from Premier League clubs.

Aston Villa’s pursuit of Diaby

As the transfer saga gathers momentum, Aston Villa wasted no time in submitting their opening bid for Moussa Diaby. Their offer, valued at €35 million (£30 million) plus potential add-ons, was swiftly turned down by Bayer Leverkusen.

The Bundesliga club has made it abundantly clear that they expect a fee of around €60 million (£51 million) for the talented winger.

Nevertheless, sources close to the negotiations have indicated that an offer surpassing €50 million (£43 million) could potentially sway Leverkusen to part ways with the 24-year-old. Despite the rejection, Villa remains undeterred and is likely to return with an improved offer in their pursuit of Diaby.
