Arsenal ‘are weighing up loan deal worth over £27m for Barcelona’s Philippe Coutinho’

Arsenal are reportedly weighing up a loan deal for Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho which could be worth over £27million.

According to Sport, Barcelona are aware that clubs won’t be willing to pay a significant transfer fee and are looking at loaning Coutinho out again following his spell at Bayern Munich this season.

The report indicates that any club interested in signing Coutinho would have to pay €20m (£18.2m) for the loan and €10m (£9.1m) to cover the Brazilian’s wages.

Coutinho understands that he may have to take a pay cut to facilitate a transfer, but he is seeking to avoid such a situation if possible.

Sport state that Arsenal are ‘gaining more strength every day’ with regards to a deal for Coutinho, whose agent Kia Joorabchian has connections at Arsenal.

Tottenham and Leicester are also interested in Coutinho, who won the Bundesliga and the German Cup with Bayern.

This season Coutinho scored nine goals and provided eight assists for Bayern in 34 appearances across all competitions.

Although he has just under three years left on his contract at Barcelona, it appears unlikely that Coutinho has a future at the Nou Camp.
