Analyst Reveals Why The Raiders Are Stuck With McDaniels

The Las Vegas Raiders are in big trouble.

They are severely under-delivering on all preseason expectations, currently sitting with a 2-7 record.

To make matters even worse, they can’t shake their coaching woes either.

Before the 2022 NFL campaign, Josh McDaniels signed a four-year contract with the Raiders.

Even if they wanted to fire him, they are locked into this contract until the end of the 2023 season.

What’s Next For The Raiders?

Likely, more losses.

Raiders quarterback Derek Carr is having one of the worst statistical seasons of his career.

In nine games this season, Carr has only eclipsed a passer rating of 100 twice.

The Raiders defense is allowing more than 25 points per game, the fifth-worst mark in the league.

Both sides of the ball are playing some seriously uninspired football, and there’s reason to believe that McDaniels is a big reason for it.

Unfortunately for the players, the organization’s hands are tied and are unable to make any coaching changes until the 2024 season.

Adding more fuel to the fire is the Raiders remaining 2022 opponents.

They still have to play the Denver Broncos, Seattle Seahawks, Los Angeles Chargers, Los Angeles Rams, New England Patriots, Pittsburgh Steelers, San Francisco 49ers, and Kansas City Chiefs.

While two or three of these games are certainly winnable, the Raiders certainly have their work cut out for them.

It might be time for them to look ahead to the 2023 draft, where they have an opportunity to contend for a top-5 pick.

Maybe the upcoming draft is a time for them to move on from Carr, and draft a new franchise quarterback.
