‘Already better than Torres’: Some Man City fans in major claim after youngster’s starring display vs Swindon
Manchester City’s supporters have flooded to social media on Friday evening, to react to the latest showing of up-and-coming talent Cole Palmer.
Silva amongst the goals
The Sky Blues were of course back in action a short time ago.
After extending their advantage at the Premier League’s summit to a full ten points last weekend, City, on this occasion, turned their attentions towards matters on the cup front.
The Manchester giants made the trip to the southwest of England, for an FA Cup 3rd-round meeting with League Two outfit Swindon Town.
And, when all was said and done, despite the absence of boss Pep Guardiola and a host of key performers owing to Covid-19, the visitors, unsurprisingly, came away with a dominant 4-1 victory.
Bernardo Silva opened the scoring on the night, before further strikes on the part of Gabriel Jesus, Ilkay Gundogan and Cole Palmer added some well-earned gloss to the scoreline.

‘Twice as talented’
And, as alluded to above, on the back of the full-time whistle at the County Ground, it is the name of one member of Pep Guardiola’s squad in particular which has since taken its place front and centre in the post-match chatter.
The player in question? Youngster Cole Palmer.
After being afforded a rare start on the right flank owing to the absence of the likes of Riyad Mahrez and Raheem Sterling, 19-year-old Palmer went on to completely steal the show, chipping in with not only an assist, but also the following gorgeous finish, amid a wonderful all-round display:
The left peg 😳

And the efforts of the City academy graduate certainly didn’t go unrecognised on the part of the club’s supporters, who have taken to social media in their absolute numbers post-match, to unveil a collective claim.
This comes in the form of the suggestion that Palmer, at just 19, is already a superior player to Ferran Torres, who was of course granted a departure from the Etihad for Barcelona upon the opening of the January transfer window:
Palmer is better than Ferran Torres.

Ferran Torres played like he was a passenger most of the times at City. Not many ‘breathtaking’ moments either.
Palmer plays like he belongs here and wants to prove that he has the ability to start for us.— Kushagra (@Kushagra9320) January 7, 2022
Cole Palmer > Ferran Torres 🔵

Not even taking the piss but whats the need for Ferran Torres when Cole Palmer is genuinely twice as talented?🤷♂️🤩
