All-Pro WR Deebo Samuel refollows 49ers Instagram account

The Deebo Samuel springtime saga took another turn on Thursday morning.

With the 2022 NFL Draft in the rear-view mirror and training camp not too far down the road, Samuel is still a member of the San Francisco 49ers and his latest actions on social media, while small, could indicate that he’ll be staying with the organization after all. The 26-year-old led the NFL in yards per reception (18.2) in 2021, while recording 1,770 yards from scrimmage and 14 touchdowns on 136 touches and earning his first Pro Bowl nod and All-Pro honor.

Samuel sent shockwaves through the league one week before the draft when he requested a trade out of the Bay Area, though he also said that there was more to the story. Additionally, the Niners have stated multiple times that they’re not interested in moving the breakout star.

The New York Jets have been the most heavily rumored team to be involved in the Samuel sweepstakes, but they notably selected Ohio State wideout Garrett Wilson with the 10th overall pick last week. Other wide receivers expected to be on the Jets depth chart in the fall include Elijah Moore and Corey Davis.
