All I-10 lanes near San Antonio’s Medical Center now open

Update: 6:55 p.m. Thursday, April 6: Footage from nearby TxDOT cameras show that area clean up crews were able to remove water from all lanes of traffic along parts of I-10 heading toward the Medical Center.

Bad weather in the San Antonio area has caused standstill traffic along parts of I-10 heading toward the Medical Center on Thursday, April 6, according to TxDOT officials.

Footage from both TxDOT and Google Maps are reporting images of standstill traffic, high water conditions on the road and a possible crash near major parts of I-10 heading toward Medical Drive and Wurzbach Road, TxDOT official Steve Pruneda said.

“Traffic is getting right off on Wurzbach currently,” Pruneda said. “Police are currently working the scene and directing traffic.”

Drivers heading toward the Medical Center are going to want to stay away from the area for the next few hours, Pruneda added. TxDOT systems are showing no reports of any crashes near that location at the moment. San Antonio Police Department officials are working the area and directing drivers off the highway. There is no estimated time for when traffic will be cleared.

This story will be updated when traffic is cleared in the area. The San Antonio Police Department was contacted for comment on the matter.
