Agent Flies In For Talks With City And United Set To Fight It Out Over 60M Signing

Sporting Lisbon defender Nuno Mendes’s agent is currently in Manchester holding discussions with City and United about his player, according to reports in Portugal.

Miguel Pinho was said to be present at Old Trafford last night to see the Red Devils play out a 1-1 draw against Fulham. He is also Bruno Fernandes’s representative so it is not a surprise that he was at the match.

However, it is believed he will also hold discussions with United about Mendes’s future, before also travelling for talks with City to determine which club is serious about making an offer for the 18-year-old.

The fullback has a €70m (£60m) release clause, but there is a feeling that the player could be let go for around €40m (34.5m) to €45m (£39m) with performance-related add-ons and loan players making up the rest of the offer.

Whether the Citizens will be interested in making such a bid for Mendes, we shall have to wait and see. The club are said to be keen to strengthen their options at left-back but reports in the local media have rubbished previous reports that the Manchester club are interested in the Portuguese teenager.
