Affidavit: Woman arrested after 1-year-old tests positive for methamphetamine

A 26-year-old woman is facing child endangerment charges after her toddler tested positive for methamphetamine, according to an arrest affidavit..

On March 30, Alyssa Joann Garcia brought her 1-year-old to the San Antonio Children’s Hospital because he wasn’t sleeping. Results from blood tests indicated the child tested positive for having the drugs in his system, the affidavit said.

Garcia told police she was a recovering meth user and had a blue plate in her residence she used to use for her drugs. One day, she found the same plate under a vanity where the child had been playing and it had a “hard substance” stuck on it, that was later identified as methamphetamine, the affidavit said.

Garcia’s bail was set at $10,000.
