Affidavit: Man arrested after Tumblr said he shared child pornography, bragged about assaults

A 35-year-old San Antonio man was arrested after the social media website Tumblr accused him of sharing child pornography and bragging about sexually assaulting two 9-year-old girls, according to an arrest affidavit.

Tumblr notified the criminal investigations division of the Texas Attorney General’s office that John Alan Fuentes allegedly uploaded 11 files of child pornography in a series of private messages, the affidavit said.

In April, authorities said the site flagged someone with the username john84sworld after photos of a nude child who was between the ages of 8 and 11 years old was shared, the affidavit said.

By May 20, Texas officials obtained a search warrant for Tumblr’s online submission portal to download the content from Fuentes’ private messages, subscriber data, IP address and more.

Tumblr officials also reported that Fuentes allegedly claimed to have sexually abused two minors in his messages to other users, the affidavit said.

Authorities later tracked down Fuentes’ residence through his IP address, and he was arrested June 3.

Fuentes is being held at Bexar County Adult Detention Center on charges of promotion of child pornography with a bail set at $80,000.
