San Antonio attorney Neil Calfas was arrested by the Texas Department of Public Safety after a search warrant was executed Wednesday at his downtown law office.
Agents with DPS’ Criminal Investigations Division arrived Wednesday morning at the offices of Calfas Law Group, located in the 100 block of Broadway near East Houston Street.
Affidavits for his arrest show Calfas, 56, is facing solicitation of prostitution and human trafficking charges.
According to one affidavit, Calfas allegedly coerced a woman to engage in sexual conduct by promising legal help for her jailed brother. The affidavit cites recorded jail phone calls and interviews that investigators say support the allegations.
Investigators also allege Calfas ultimately didn’t provide the legal representation he promised.
A second warrant alleges Calfas offered to pay a fee for sex with a woman.
According to the affidavit, investigators reviewed a screen-recorded Snapchat video showing a sexual encounter. Afterward, the affidavit says, the man in the video is seen handing over what investigators say appeared to be cash.
KSAT reached out to Calfas for comment and is still waiting to hear back. Calfas’ bond is set at $110,000.
DPS said its investigation is ongoing.
