‘A number of players’: Concern at Tottenham as Covid outbreak confirmed before Rennes
An altogether concerning development in Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur squad has been confirmed on Monday evening.
Back on song
Ongoings on the Lilywhite half of north London have of course proven of an altogether encouraging nature of late.
On the back of a slip-up versus minnows NS Mura in the Europa Conference League, Spurs have since bounced back in a major way over the course of the last week.
A 2-0 downing of Brentford was followed by another 3-point haul this past weekend, as the capital club made short work of Norwich City, by three goals to nil.

Such results mean that, all told, Tottenham have now racked up ten points from an available twelve in the Premier League since the instillation of Antonio Conte on the club’s bench.
Even more significant than this streak itself, though, has been the manner of Spurs’ performances, particularly over the last week, with the Lilywhites finally beginning to look a cohesive unit with a clear and definitive game-plan each time that they step foot on the pitch.
Covid chaos
As alluded to above, however, on Monday night, the encouraging situation at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has been thrown firmly into disarray.
This comes on the back of confirmation of an outbreak of Covid-19 in the club’s camp.
As per a report from the reliable Alasdair Gold of football.london, ‘a number of players and coaching staff’ alike have returned positive tests for the virus.
The individuals in question, who have yet to be named, will now be expected to undergo further PCR testing on Tuesday, to rule out the possibility of false positives.
Should the situation remain as is, though, Antonio Conte could well be without a number of key players over the coming week, ahead of meetings with both Stade Rennais (Conference League) and Brighton & Hove Albion (Premier League).
Understand that Spurs have indeed had a Covid outbreak in their camp this week. More info below. https://t.co/lBbkRnUDeN
