The Philadelphia 76ers are 3-0 on the season after a October 24 win over the Knicks and weeks out from a November 10 game in Boston against the Celtics, star forward and defensive stopper Jaylen Brown’s former team. Brown’s former teammate Jayson Tatum denied “having beef” with the 76ers star, who has helped pick up his team amid LeBron James injury difficulties.
Brown spoke to media about Tatum’s “no beef” comments during which he smoothed over and explained the situation.
“I didn’t see the full thing, but I saw that he saw, it’s ‘no beef,’ and he’s right, you know, Jayson comes from a great family, we’ve accomplished some great things, he’s a great basketball player, got a hell of a PR team, there’s no beef, but it might be a little lamb chops and some gravy, we gotta stay ready at all times.
“No beef, it should never, ever be that, it’s just basketball, we both blessed,” Brown continued. “We both got so much stuff in front of us.”
The 76ers have a tough game on tap against Cade Cunningham and the Pistons for October 25 in Philadelphia, one day removed from Tyrese Maxey’s 28-point explosion in 106-100 road win over the New York Knicks. Maxey has had a public spat with Stephen A. Smith over comments Smith made about his time under former coach Doc Rivers that has caused controversy.
Nick Nurse’s 76ers are putting together the pieces far earlier than most fans expected, with an undefeated record that they will put on the line against JB Bickerstaff’s Pistons on Sunday. Brown and Tatum’s feud can chill on ice until November, but for now, the 76ers are giving maximum effort in a bid to put distance between themselves and fellow contenders.
