The Los Angeles Clippers are among the many teams around the league finalizing their rosters by waiving players. The Clippers have had quite the offseason, to say the least, and are looking to put all the noise behind them and focus on having a successful season.

LA has been making roster moves throughout the week. One of those moves was waiving former second-round pick Cam Christie.

“The Los Angeles Clippers are waiving Cam Christie, league sources told hoopshype. Christie had a $2.30 million salary guarantee date that was approaching. Christie, who recently turned 21, was the 46th pick of the 2024 NBA Draft and spent the past two seasons with the Clippers," HoopsHype's Michael Scotto wrote.

Christie didn't have much of an impact on the Clippers, as he rarely had the opportunity to play meaningful minutes.

“Christie was the 46th pick in the 2024 NBA Draft and a guy the Clippers were excited to select with their pick. But in the two seasons he's been with the franchise, he's been unable to make strides large enough to warrant an increase in minutes. Aside from that, there weren't many minutes available to him to play, learn through his mistakes, and develop as the Clippers attempted to compete for a deep playoff run,” ClutchPoints’ Tomar Azarly wrote.

However, on Friday, LA decided to bring Christie back on a two-way deal, just 48 hours after he cleared waivers.

“The Los Angeles Clippers and Cam Christie have agreed to a two-way deal, agent Kevin Bradbury of LIFT Sports Management told hoopshype. Christie, who recently turned 21, was the 46th pick of the 2024 NBA Draft and spent the past two seasons with the Clippers,” Scotto posted.

At first glance, the Clippers' decision to bring Christie back so quickly might seem surprising, but the move makes sense. Christie had been on the standard rookie contract he signed after being drafted, and with the opportunity to sign a two-way deal available after he cleared waivers, both sides agreed to move forward.

This allows LA to continue developing Christie while giving him another opportunity to remain with the organization. Spending much-needed time in the G League could help him improve his game and work toward earning a larger role with the Clippers.
