The veteran forward became visibly animated after a call involving Stephen Curry was overturned following a coach’s challenge. The initial ruling went against Curry, with officials calling an offensive foul on the Warriors star.
However, Golden State challenged the decision, and the officials overturned the call after reviewing the play. The reversal prompted an intense reaction from Green, who began arguing with the officials and was subsequently assessed a technical foul.
The Warriors entered the matchup hoping to end their preseason on a positive note after falling 123-118 to Portland in their previous meeting during the preseason schedule.
However, Green and the Warriors had reason to feel relieved as they eventually secured a 128-118 win on Friday. The win allowed Golden State to finish its preseason with a 4-2 record.
Green contributed in several areas beyond scoring, recording six rebounds, four assists and two steals in 12 minutes of action. Meanwhile, Curry led the Warriors with a team-high 20 points in 26 minutes, converting seven of his 19 attempts from the field.
Golden State is scheduled to begin its regular-season against the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday. The matchup will present a more meaningful challenge as Curry, Green and the rest of the Warriors look to carry their preseason momentum into the regular season.
For Portland, the 10-point loss marked the end of its preseason meeting with Golden State. On the other hand, the Warriors will look to build on their offensive performance and carry that confidence into their upcoming clash with the Lakers.
