The LA Clippers will be starting the 2026-27 regular season shorthanded as they deal with injuries to a a third of their roster. Brandon Ingram, Max Strus, Bradley Beal, Jordan Miller, Kobe Sanders, and Yanic Konan Niederhauser are are all dealing with injuries as one week away from the season opener.
On Tuesday, head coach Tyronn Lue mentioned that Ingram is slowly ramping up his activity in practices with the team, but remains a ways away from returning to the court in an NBA setting.
“He’s been increasing, he’s been ramping up,” Lue said. “He’s doing a lot more, so just seeing him on the floor, that’s a good sign. It’s going to still take some time, it’s going to be a while, but just seeing him on the floor being able to do certain things has been good to see.”
Tyronn Lue says Brandon Ingram is still not close to a return yet, but has been ramping up his activity at Clippers practice.

Max Strus suffered a tear of his plantar fascia just five minutes into the first preseason game against the Golden State Warriors. He’s expected to be re-evaluated in about three weeks, but that doesn’t mean he’ll be close to a return. A realistic timetable for an injury like Strus’ is in the six-to-eight week range from the time of injury.
“It’s tough, but like I told him, we’re going to wait for him.” Lue said of Strus. “We’re going to hold the fort down until we get our guys back. it’s unfortunate what happened but it’s part of the game.”
Bradley Beal continues to have inflammation in his knee managed as he works his way back into shape. Beal is nearly 100 percent recovered from his hip injury, but suffered inflammation in his right knee while ramping up for a return in the offseason.
“He’s like Max, he can move without the basketball, coming off screens, pick the pickers, his movement causes confusion, Lue added. “He’s been getting better. Rehab is going pretty good so we’ll see where he’s at. We don’t know the timetable, just basically making sure he feels good before he steps on the floor.”
The Clippers are expected to rely heavily on guys like Darius Garland and Rui Hachimura as the franchise tries to get off to a strong start without key pieces of their rotation.
The regular season will open up on Wednesday, October 21st when the LA Clippers host the Sacramento Kings.
