49ers want to host Super Bowl LX in 2026 or Super Bowl LXI in 2027?

The locations for the next three Super Bowl games are already known, but that doesn’t mean it’s too early to begin thinking about contests that will occur throughout the second half of the 2020s.

According to Kirk Larrabee of 49ers WebZone, San Francisco 49ers president Al Guido confirmed during the team’s annual “state of the franchise” event that the club wishes to make Levi’s Stadium the host for either Super Bowl LX in 2026 or Super Bowl LXI in 2027.

Super Bowl 50, which saw the Denver Broncos defeat the Carolina Panthers in what became a career walkoff contest for Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning, took place at Levi’s Stadium back in February 2016.

“We are talking to the NFL and all of our partners around the ability to bring Super Bowl 60 and/or 61 back to the Bay Area and Levi’s Stadium,” Guido explained.

As noted by an NBC Sports Washington piece, Super Bowl LVII will take place next February at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. Super Bowl LVIII in 2024 will occur at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. Then, the Caesars Superdome will welcome Super Bowl LIX to New Orleans, Louisiana in 2025.

San Francisco won’t be without noteworthy and perhaps some interesting competition for the rights to Super Bowl LX and Super Bowl LXI. It was reported in February that London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and Stadium Australia in Sydney could both be considered for either of those championship games, although it remains unclear how serious the NFL may be about moving such massive events overseas regardless of the potential money involved.
