49ers pre-draft meeting: Ole Miss DE Tavius Robinson

According to Justin Melo of The Draft Network, the San Francisco 49ers are among several teams that have recently met with Ole Miss defensive end Tavius Robinson. The others include the Cincinnati Bengals, Houston Texans, New York Giants, and New York Jets.

Robinson’s collegiate career started in Ontario, Canada before joining Ole Miss in 2020. He registered 43 tackles, seven tackles for a loss, six sacks, a pass defensed, and four forced fumbles through 13 game appearances as a senior in 2022, per Sports Reference.

The defender racked up 89 tackles, 13 tackles for a loss, and 10.5 sacks in his three seasons with the Rebels.

Robinson is from Guelph, Ontario. He earned a pre-draft grade of 6.18 from NFL.com, which equates to a “good backup with potential to become a starter,” per the site’s 8-point grading scale.

Ascending, even-front defensive end prospect with outstanding traits and projectable upside,” wrote Lance Zierlein of NFL.com in his draft analysis of the defender. “Robinson plays with good aggression and heavy hands as both a run defender and pass rusher. He has the agility and foot quickness to beat blockers whether chasing the run or rushing the passer. Robinson attacks the pocket with a game plan and a variety of moves at his disposal. He needs to grow into his frame to improve against the run, but Robinson should become a rotational defender and has future-starter potential.”

At the NFL Scouting Combine, the 6′ 6 1/8″ and 257-pound Robinson had a 40-time of 4.66 seconds, a vertical jump of 33.5 inches, a broad jump of 120 inches, 23 reps in the bench press, and a 20-yard shuttle time of 4.62 seconds. His other measurables include an arm length of 33 3/4 inches and hands measuring 9 5/8 inches.
