49ers’ Jimmy Garoppolo leads this active streak among NFL QBs

According to the official Twitter account for the NFL on CBS, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo owns the longest active streak of consecutive games with a passer rating over 80.0. His 17 games lead the pack, with Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith coming in second with 12 and Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow coming in third with eight.

Of course, it’s worth noting that the streak only includes regular-season games. Garoppolo’s passer rating sunk below the 80.0 mark in two of his three playoff appearances last season. Against the Dallas Cowboys, Garoppolo finished with a 67.4 pass rating. He owned a passer rating of 57.1 against the Green Bay Packers.

In the NFC Championship Game, a losing effort against the Los Angeles Rams, Garoppolo’s passer rating improved to 87.1. It’s also notable that Garoppolo was dealing with shoulder and thumb injuries in those playoff contests.

Not counting the playoffs, the 17-game streak dates back to October 31, 2021, against the Chicago Bears, when Garoppolo finished the game with a 100.6 passer rating. The 49ers quarterback had a passer rating over 100.0 in 10 of the 17 games since, including his 132.5 passer rating in Week 8’s 31-14 victory over the Los Angeles Rams, when he completed 84 percent of his passes.

Garoppolo has thrown for 1,691 yards, 11 touchdowns, four interception, and completed 66.7 percent of his passes through seven games and six starts this season.
