49ers GM Continues To Stick By His Deebo Samuel Story

Trading do-it-all receiver Deebo Samuel would be a big blow to the 49ers because he’s their most explosive receiver.

However, he allegedly did not like the way the team was using him on offense.

Aside from being their primary receiver, he was also a weapon in the team’s running scheme.

Being a threat in both aspects helped him finish with 1,770 total yards, six receiving touchdowns, and an NFL-record eight rushing scores.

But Lynch thinks that he can save the relationship between the All-Pro wideout and the 49ers.

For that resolution to happen, the team must heed to Samuel’s requests.

Having him around will help Trey Lance have a great first year as the team’s starting quarterback.

Otherwise, teams will continue to make their trade offers to acquire him.

Samuel Won’t Come Cheap

Aside from listening to what he wants, the 49ers must also offer a fair contract for Samuel.

Sadly, the deals Tyreek Hill and Davante Adams signed increased the ceiling for wide receiver salaries.

In effect, the base rate for an All-Pro wideout would be $20 million annually.

However, Samuel’s camp could point at A.J. Brown’s contract extension with the Philadelphia Eagles and ask for the same price.

Lynch declared that they are willing to pay the price to retain Samuel.

But he must weigh the value of signing a wide receiver to a lucrative deal.

Such a contract could cripple their salary cap flexibility.

Therefore, Lynch must manage their cap space wisely while getting Samuel to agree to a long-term deal.
