49ers’ Fred Warner, Brandon Aiyuk involved in fight at training camp

Multiple fights occurred during San Francisco 49ers training camp on Tuesday between a host of players, reportedly centered around wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk and linebacker Fred Warner.

David Lombardi of The Athletic noted that the skirmish surrounding Aiyuk and Warner may not be a coincidence. Last week, the wideout called the 2020 All-Pro linebacker “annoying” and “irritating,” whereas Warner said the treatment of the first-round pick was purely motivational.

Aiyuk was selected 25th overall by the Niners in 2020, and he’s posted back-to-back five-touchdown seasons. The 24-year-old finished with 56 catches for a career-high 826 receiving yards in 2021 on 84 targets.

Despite missing one game last season, Warner led San Francisco with a career-high 137 tackles, while recording four passes defended and a career-high three fumble recoveries as well.
