49ers-Cardinals Injury Report: Greenlaw among several players ruled out; Samuel, McCaffrey cleared to play

The San Francisco 49ers are preparing for their Week 18 contest against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

Defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw returned to practice on Friday. The 49ers gave him Wednesday off, and the defender missed Thursday’s practice due to an illness.

That illness has been spreading through the 49ers’ locker room. It prevented defensive tackle Arik Armstead from practicing on Friday.

The 49ers listed both Kinlaw and Armstead as “questionable” for Sunday.

Christian McCaffrey practiced for the first time this week. The running back is dealing with what head coach Kyle Shanahan described as a “mild” ankle sprain.

Wide receiver Deebo Samuel has been a full practice participant all week. He is attempting to return from MCL and ankle sprains sustained on December 14.

Both McCaffrey and Samuel are cleared to play against the Cardinals.

Running back Elijah Mitchell is working his way back from an MCL sprain. He is expected to be activated from the injured reserve list before Sunday’s game. Matt Barrows of The Athletic notes that Mitchell looks “ready to roll” for Sunday.

Linebacker Dre Greenlaw emerged from Week 17 with a back injury. He did not practice this week and is among several players ruled out for the Cardinals game.
