The NFL quarterback market has seen interesting twists and turns in 2022.
Jimmy Garoppolo from the San Francisco 49ers is the next quarterback on an NFL team’s wish list.
With the market down to only two potential quarterback trades, Jimmy G is the first player NFL teams would want.
So what three teams are gearing up to make the 49ers an offer for the former NFC Championship winning quarterback?
3. Seattle Seahawks
The Seattle Seahawks have made it known now they are looking for a better quarterback than Geno Smith or Drew Lock.
However, the team also has their eyes set on Baker Mayfield from the Cleveland Browns.
But if they were to get Garoppolo from the 49ers, they would have a quarterback with a motivation to win.
With him, they would have a quarterback that knows the teams of the NFC West, which they have to face six times each season.
Also, he’d want to get revenge on his former team, who’s trying to ditch him in favor of Trey Lance.
However, the Seahawks would need to protect him, as he’s gone through several injuries in his career.
If their new offensive line is up to the task, then adding the talent of Jimmy G would help them in 2022.
2. Carolina Panthers
Another team that is interested in a different starting quarterback in 2022 is the Carolina Panthers.
However, they too are also interested in Mayfield.
But if they were to look at their current quarterback in Sam Darnold, they would see Mayfield is a clone of him.
With Garoppolo, they get a quarterback that’s taken his team to the Super Bowl before.
While he isn’t flashy, he gets the job done.
That’s exactly what the Panthers need in a division that’s ruled by the Saints and the Buccaneers.
They need a quarterback who can perform under pressure and help them beat their rival teams in the NFC South.
It would also work out for Garoppolo to go to Carolina, as he would face former teammate Tom Brady twice this season.
Many believe it was Brady who forced the trade of Jimmy G to San Francisco years ago.
So if those rumors were ever true, this would give Jimmy the chance for revenge.
1. Cleveland Browns
The biggest shocker on the list for Jimmy Garoppolo is the Cleveland Browns.
After getting Deshaun Watson from the Houston Texans, you would think they wouldn’t need a quarterback.
However, issues with Watson are threatening to see him face a long suspension by the NFL.
That now leaves the Browns desperate for a quarterback, after alienating Mayfield this spring.
With time ticking down, Cleveland is signaling they want the 49ers quarterback.
They don’t seem to be sold on backup quarterback Jacoby Brissett to handle the team while Watson is suspended.
However, the Browns have already sold the farm to get Watson, leaving them will very little to use in a trade with the 49ers.
But they want to get him, as Browns fans are desperate to see their team win in 2022.
