1-year-old dies after mom ran her over while moving car near family home: cops

A 1-year-old Arizona girl died after her mother ran her over while moving her car near the family’s home, police said.

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office received a call Thursday from a woman who said “she had run over her 13-month-old baby with her car,” police said

The girl, identified by the Daily Mail as 13-month-old Cyra Rose Thoeming, was with her mom outside the family’s Cottonwood home when tragedy struck.

The woman had placed her daughter in her car seat in an area where she believed her daughter was safe while she moved her vehicle, the sheriff’s office said.

“While repositioning the vehicle, the front tire caught the canopy of the car seat, causing it to fall backward which led to the infant suffering critical injuries,” the sheriff’s office wrote.

Cyra was rushed to a local hospital, but she could not be saved.

Her mother has not been charged, and sheriff’s office investigators are continuing to probe the death.

A GoFundMe page has been created to benefit the family.

The little girl’s uncle described her as “a light in the world who brought smiles to everyone she met.”

“In her short, beautiful life, she loved being outside, nature, playing with her family, animals and the water,” her wrote on the page. “There isn’t anyone who didn’t smile their biggest after spending just a moment with her.”
