SAPD officer placed on leave after alleged sexual assault

San Antonio police officer Humberto Zuniga has been placed on administrative leave at the San Antonio Police Department after being arrested Saturday for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman police said he was in a relationship with.

According to the woman, Zuniga had sex with her without her consent. She told police she managed to stop him by grabbing a knife and cutting his arm. The victim called the police and Zuniga later was arrested.

Zuniga, an 18-year veteran of SAPD, has a history of receiving disciplinary action from his employer. In 2015, he served a suspension after allegedly threatening to send sexually explicit videos of his ex-girlfriend to her friends and family if she refused to drop a civil lawsuit against him

Police said an investigation into the case is ongoing.
