Hugo Lloris admits Tottenham’s players have been taught to be ‘naughty’ by Jose Mourinho

Tottenham captain Hugo Lloris says Jose Mourinho has taught his team to be ‘naughty’, but insists he will remain nice off the pitch.

Mourinho’s philosophy is laid bare in the Amazon Prime documentary All or Nothing, in which cameras went behind the scenes at Spurs last season.

One memorable moment is during a half-time team talk against Manchester City, in which Mourinho alerts them to the City players who are on a yellow card and tells them to be a ‘team of c****’ in the second half.

Tottenham then scored two second-half goals to win 2-0 after City’s Oleksandar Zinchenko was sent off for a second yellow.

Lloris, who takes on Everton on Sunday, said of Mourinho’s comment: ‘It doesn’t mean outside the field you are not a good guy but when you are on the field you have to do everything.

‘And everything means also having this personality to be naughty, to get the winning taste. But that’s not enough. You need a plan, talent and team spirit.’

Spurs went on to win the game against City at White Hart Lane in February 2-0

Amid the angst over the busy fixture schedule due to the delays caused by coronavirus, it is Spurs who have been hit hardest.

They potentially face nine matches this month if they progress in the Europa League against Lokomotiv Plovdiv, including four games in one week.

Lloris said: ‘We have to adapt to the schedule. And care about our team-mates — being together, being strong with our manager and staff.’
